It is imperative to clearly understand what level of autonomy and decision-making power you will have when applying for a senior-level role. There have been plenty of C-suite executives caught off guard when they discover their lack of authority in departmental and key company decisions. Critically thinking through these new potential leadership opportunities and asking pertinent questions will allow you to properly manage your expectations and give you the information necessary to make sound decisions.
